How Cars Changed the World
Cars have singularly changed the face of the world. By the time of its invention, it is considered as a quantum leap due to its difference with the mode of transportation at that time.
Before cars and diesel engines had been invented, people relied on horse carriages for their transportation needs. This has been the arrangement for several centuries until the invention of the automobile sometime in the 19th century. While horse carriages were effective and ideal for travelling, they took quite a lot of time to get from one place to another.
When cars have been introduced, however, the landscape of travelling changed. While it takes days on end for a horse carriage to get from one city to another, the speed difference that cars boasted reduced that travel time to just hours. With cars, travelling had become faster and easier thus encouraging people to journey and visit other locales. The difficulties or delays associated with travelling in horse carriages are non-existent with the automobile.
Automobiles have also offered additional protection from bandits that prowl the open road at those times. Unlike horse carriages that can be easily boarded by robbers, it would take a man who can run as fast as a car to accomplish their evil deeds. In later years, of course, the criminals adapted to this new invention but at that time, it was a welcome respite.
Nowadays, cars have enjoyed a special preference in terms of transportation for today’s society. While there is public transportation available, it is still a necessity for people to own a car because it helps them to arrive at their destinations faster and on time.
